Hello people!
I’M BAAAAAAAAAAAACK! Aren’t you THRILLED?! I know you are. ;]
Okay, I wrote a blog everyday that I was in D.C., but I couldn’t post ‘em, so I’m gonna put them all under cuts and you can read them at your leisure. I’ll be posting today’s blog tomorrow; I’m exhausted and am desperate for sleep, lol. So look for two blogs tomorrow; one for Saturday, one for Sunday.
Title: Say Hi to Stephen’s Book for Me!
Entry: Hello readers!Well, today was the first day at Presidential Classroom. My parents drove me to Washington, D.C. (that was fun) and we got there at, like, 12:30-ish. Registration was at 2:00. So we chilled and ate some late lunch together in the food court.
Then my parents took me to register, where we got cooly name-tag thingies that came on awesome necklacey strings. And we got bags that said Presidential Classroom and we got assigned rooms.
OMG, I first got assigned room 247, which is at the end of the hall on the second floor. The key didn’t work in the door, so my dad went downstairs and got it fixed. Then we tried it in the door. Turns out, that room was taken – it was a GUYS COUNSELORS room. So, it was wrong squared.
We went back downstairs, got assigned the correct room (237), and headed inside. I was the first one there. Which means I got a bed *YAY ME*. My rents waited with me for a while and we watched a little “Mrs. Doubtfire” which was on ABC Family today. I started to cry after a bit and I just couldn’t stop. I really didn’t want my parents to leave me. But eventually, they did, and I sat alone for a while.
Actually, I was alone for, like, an hour, and then this girl from Hong Kong (I believe her name is Adrian [sp?]) came in and claimed the second bed. She was SUPER nice, as was her friend So Jung, so that was good.
And then Erica came in about an hour later and she was really nice, too. She invited me to hang with her group of friends (who’d somehow all were attending PC, too), so that was good. We chilled and watched TV for a while and then headed down to eat dinner. Then, we saw a bunch of kids just registering at 6:30 (and registration ended at 6:00), and we were a tad worried that we’d have a fourth roommate.
Unfortunately, we did. We headed back upstairs and there was a girl from Honduras sitting on my bed (that sounds like the lead-in to a bad porno). She was texting on her phone and had all her shit on MY bed. Now, I’m very touchy and have some space issues and can’t sleep with another person in the same bed as me. *shudders*
There were two air mattresses provided for those of us that DIDN’T get beds. So, naturally, the Honduras girl would get an air mattress. But she wanted to sleep in my bed. She didn’t speak English very well, so it was hard explaining to her that she couldn’t sleep in my bed, but eventually, I finally did, lol.
So Erica and the Honduras girl (sorry, dunno her name) are on air mattresses and Adrian and I are on the regular beds. I’m glad Honduras (that’s her name now, lol) is cool now, but she still speaks shit English and I can hardly understand her AND I still dunno her name, so that makes talking to her difficult.
We went to a seminar where they told us the rules, even though we already HAD all the rules, and then we were divided into two groups – Caucus A and Caucus B. I was in B. I headed to the conference room I was sposed to be in and helped this really cute guy figure out where he was sposed to go (turns out, he was in my Caucus…YAY).
We were paired off with buddies, which is essentially our check and balance for keeping track of each other and whatnot during the week. I got a really nice girl, Katia, and she’s got the room right next door, so that’s cool. :]
Apparently, the Caucus groups had to do projects throughout the week. So, we were divided into two groups; one that focused on the energy problem in America, and one that focused on the immigration problem in America. I got the energy prob, which is cooly, I guess. I’m not really passionate about either subject, so I’m neutral to both.
THEN, from THOSE groups, we were divided into two MORE groups; Democrats and Republicans. I’m in the Democrat group! YAY! XD So we didn’t really do anything but succeed in wasting a shit-load of time, lol.
I gotta get to bed, we’re getting up at 6:30 AM, which SUCKS, ‘specially since we’ve got such a busy fucking day tomorrow, but oh well. That’s what you get when you go to Washington, D.C. X] I’m just stoked for Wednesday; that’s CONGRESS DAY! I get to meet Sherrod Brown! HE RULES!
Oh, and this blog’s title is something my mom said to me today. She saw Stephen Colbert’s book, “I Am America (And So Can You!)” in the storefront of the school book store here at Georgia University (is that what it’s called? …I think so…), and she was like, “Look! It’s Steve!” And then, when she left, she texted me and said, “Say hi to Steve (the book) for me!” I thought it was cute and funny, lol.

Title: Ahh, Yes, But Can You NAME The Buildings?
Entry: Hello readers!
Today was crazy.
We had a seminar with Brad Deutsche, who worked for the FEC (Federal Election Committee). I thought it would be boring, but it was actually pretty interesting. I wish I’d been more awake when he was giving the seminar, cuz I wanna remember everything he said. But sadly, I don’t recall much.
Then, we headed to the Einstein Memorial and took a photo there, and then we went to just in front of Capitol Hill (on those white steps you sometimes see in movies where CH is in the background) and took the group photo there. Then we went to lunch in Union Station…that was kinda lame.
Um, then we went to the RNC (Republican National Committee) to listen to someone ramble on about stupid Republican shit. OMG, I hated her. She was so bitchy. And she avoided answering the questions we asked (as Reps typically do). And I was recording her speech on my shit camcorder to show my rents when I get home, and she was like, “No filming, put that away.” :O
I can understand her being a bitch if I was flipping her off or something, lol, but I was just recording what she was saying. I don’t see why it was such a big deal. That only cooly part of that stupid meeting thing was that she had huge pics of George W. Bush and Dick(head) Cheney, so a bunch of us took them and swore to draw all over them. I’m gonna write “A Big Dick is Watching You” on the poster and tape it to my window in my bedroom when I get home, LOL!
Then we went to Jefferson Memorial and took some pics there and then we came back to the hotel and chilled for 15 minutes. Then the second seminar took place, and David Wasserman was the presenter; he works for The Cook Political Report, which is on TV, the radio, and in print. But it’s $300 to subscribe, so I can’t do that. XD
His presentation was SUPER interesting, AND he mentioned Stephen Colbert twice! I was like, “HELLS FUCKIN YEAH!” …but I thought that, I didn’t say it, lol. But yeah, it was really awesome. And I asked him a question; “Which do you think is more influential on the voters: Obama’s racial factor or Hillary’s gender factor?” And he replied that Obama’s racial factor is, apparently, more influential because he’s leading over Hillary.
When the whole thing was done, he stayed after dismissal and we could go talk to him. I immediately went over to him and shook his hand. I told him that I loved his seminar and that I’m a huge Colbert fan, so I really had a great time, and he was real polite and nice about it and said thanks and whatnot. So, yeah, that was fantastic.
I dunno if I mentioned this yesterday, but we’re getting a seminar from Ralph Nader tomorrow! I’m SO STOKED for that! I’m gonna get his autograph and *maybe* give him my WristStrong bracelet. I’m not sure yet, but I might…although, it would totally suck to not have mine…I dunno…
And then we did our first crossfire session, which was fun; we discussed the powers of the executive, legislative, and judicial branch. We got into a mini-debate on the war, which was SUPER fun for me, lol. I’m totally lookin forward to tomorrow’s; it’s all about separation of church and state. But I don’t wanna offend any of my friends here, who happen to be extremely religious Christians (from the South).
I ate a bagel and cream cheese tonight for dinner cuz the tacos looked REALLY nasty. But s’okay, I love bagels and cream cheese. I dunno what I’m gonna eat tomorrow. Maybe another bagel and cream cheese. Oh, I had McDonald’s chicken nuggets and a Haagen Dazs milkshake for lunch, and I drank an AWESOME bottled frappucino for breakfast. But I swear, there’s no good food here. Thankfully, mom said she’s gonna make me my fave meal when I get home! Mexican meatloaf! HELLS YEAH!
Um, so then we did caucus meetings, which was kinda blah, but whatevs. And then we had student lounge time, so I chatted to my rents, took a shower, and then got ready for bed and now I’m writing this blog. I am tired and am gonna go to bed soon.
I’m on the verge of fucking KILLING someone right now. That Honduras girl (named Lucia) had a cot brought in, cuz apparently she’s too good for an air mattress. Some woman (I believe she was French and she was a counselor for PC) wheeled in the cot/mattress thing on this giant red metal base.
The woman suggested we fucking rotate sleeping in the beds. I was like, “Um…no. I think the people that got here first deserve the beds. We all had an equal chance to get here on time. Those of us that got here first should have the beds.” And she said that that’s not fair to everyone. Well fuck everyone else! I got here first, I should have the bed.
That may sound kinda rude, but I’m very much against sleeping in the same bed as people I don’t know. Or sleeping in this bed, and then sleeping in someone else’s bed. GROSS!
So, anywho, I replied to the woman’s comment that it’s not fair by saying, “It kinda is. If I had gotten here last I would happily sleep on the air mattress without complaint.” And the woman insisted that that’s not fair. It’s PERFECTLY fair. It’s not my fucking problem that Lucia got here late! She should’ve gotten here on fucking time!
She’s fucking talking to a fellow PC-er on the hotel room’s phone, so we have to listen to her crazy-ass convo in whatever the fuck language she’s speaking, and it’s 11:30! I wanna go to bed! GAH!
*breathes* I’ve never wanted to read deliciously naughty Jon/Stephen fics more in my life. I need something that’s gonna cheer me up, LOL. And that would do it. X]

Title: This Isn’t Fiction, You’re Not Listening to Bush or Cheney
Entry: Hello readers!
GAH! Today was Ralph Nader day! But I’ll address that in just a bit. So…
This morning we went to the Department of State. DULLARIFIC. Surrsly, so freaking boring, I almost fell asleep a bunch of times, lol. Then we went to the Old Post Office Pavilion. I thought it was fun; I got a deliciously awesome hot dog, some fries, a Diet Coke, and I browsed the shops. I even bought stuff; an FBI sweatshirt, an FBI beanie, a CIA pin, a stuffed eagle (who I named STEAGLE COLBEAGLE THE EAGLE, duh, lol), and a totally bitchin “swing” type of hat (like what they wore during the times of swing music and whatnot).
Then, after that, we went to see a movie made by a college student (19 years old, yo!) called, “18 in 08.” It was about the youth of today going out and voting in the upcoming election (which EVERYONE should do). I thought it would be dull, but it was actually pretty fun. I liked it a lot. And then the guy that made it said that he went to high schools around the nation, so if we wanted him to come to ours, we could take his card and email him or call him about coming to our school. I totally took a card and am totally gonna invite him to come talk to Darby. The kids there need the motivation to vote.
Okay, so then, we had dinner and whatever, and after that, we had the RALPH NADER SEMINAR. It was amazering. There are not enough words to describe how cooly it was. I mean, he was intelligent, funny, entertaining, and just really interesting. He wasn’t dull like I kinda expected him to be. And I got to ask him a question! I asked him if he thought his repeated entry into the Presidential race de-sensitized the nation to his ideas, and he replied (MAJOR PARAPHRASING), “No, my candidacy informs the nation even more about the Green Party issues and how much of a radical media and energy source change we need in today’s society.”
After that, we got to buy his book, “The Good Fight” and get an autograph and a picture. Unfortunately, both he and we (as a whole group) were hard-pressed for time, so we couldn’t talk to him much, which I really wanted to do. But at least I got his autograph and a picture with him. That was cooly. X]
Oh, and the title of this post is a quote from his speech during his seminar. It was HILARIOUS. I could not stop laughing, but I guess the whole right side of the room was Republican, cuz none of them laughed. The left side (my side), though, totally did.
Then we did Caucus meetings, and really, that was just whatever. OH! We had a Crossfire today that asked if we have Freedom of Speech in today’s society and if there’s a separation of church and state. It was SO MUCH FUN. We had a *huge* debate on it and it got kinda intense (specially since half the room was Christian [*awkward*]) but I still think it was really fun. Plus, I got to inject information from my Expository Writing research paper (which was all about the separation of church and state)! So, yay me!
I chatted with Adrian and Erica (roomies) about traveling and the culture in Japan and Hong Kong and whatnot, and that was pretty interesting. I think Japan and China sound like totally fun places. I think I’ll go sometime in the future. And New Zealand. It sounds pretty, lol. Adrian went there a few weeks ago and told us about it. So, yeah.
So, tomorrow’s the Senate Meeting day at Capitol Hill. I’m a tad worried, cuz we have to split off by ourselves for about four-ish hours, so that sucks. But I think it’ll be fun, anyway. Although, another suckish thing is that my Representatives and Senators aren’t even here, cuz they’re kinda on they’re own “Spring Break” right now, so I don’t even get to meet Sherrod Brown, who I was TOTALLY lookin forward to meeting. He seems really cooly, so it sucks that I don’t get to meet him. But I do get to talk to his staff, so I guess that’s better than nothing. L
Well, I gotta get up SUPER early tomorrow, so I should go to sleep.

Title: Crack My Coconut, Tim
Entry: Hello readers!
Today we went to Capitol Hill! We sat on the Senate floor and listened to some woman tell us all about what they do and how she got there and blah, blah, blah. It was pretty boring and I had trouble staying awake, but OMG, the building was beautiful beyond description. Surrsly, it was amazing. I wish we could’ve taken pics, but electronics of any kind were prohibited (gah).
Then we all separated to go to our Representatives and Senators meetings. I hung out with Savannah (a really smart girl from Boulder, Colorado) cuz she and I had our first appointments at the same time and in the same building. We had about an hour before we had to go to our first meeting, so we went to a café about two minutes from the first building and she got a muffin and black tea, and I got a bottle of Nestea Ice Tea.
So, then we headed out to our first meeting and I almost got lost. Silly me. I was to meet up with Deborah Pryce’s staff, but she’s a total bitch, so I didn’t really care bout meeting her staff. But, whatevs. I listened to this guy talk bout what they do and yadda, yadda. Then I thanked him and went to the next meeting. Unfortunately, the map PC gave us was really kinda CRAPPY, so I wasn’t really all that sure of where to go. But, finally, after running down a couple streets, I found the building I was looking for.
The guy there, who was a staffee for Senator Voinovich, was hilarious and very nice. I liked him a lot. So, then I went over to the next building for the next meeting, which was with staffers who worked for Sherrod Brown (who’s AWESOME). I told the staff that I was there for a meeting, then they told me that the other four Ohio kids (who I didn’t know and wasn’t traveling with) had already come in at 11:00 that morning (while I was at the second meeting) and the people I was sposed to meet with had scheduled other appointments. So I had to leave the office and bop around the basement where they have a Senate office store.
I got some cooly stuffs there, and then met up with Hali and Nora (the former from Louisiana, the latter from California) and we had lunch together. Hali had another meeting to go to, but Nora and I were done, so we went to a couple of stores and then to Starbucks, and I got the best frappucino I’ve ever gotten from them. It was DELICIOUS.
Nora and I slowly walked back to the bus stop and took pics along the way; the scenery here is really beautiful. I wanted to go to the Library of Congress, but we didn’t have enough time. Oh, well, I spose.
Next was sposed to be Freedom Park, but that was relocated to the Newseum, which hasn’t been opened yet, so we went to the Iwo Jima (actually, it’s Iwo Doe, now) memorial and took some pics of that for bout half an hour. Then we went back to the hotel, chilled a bit, had a seminar where we got to listen to and applaud our instructors, and then we watched this movie about Patrick Kennedy running for Congress against Kevin Vigilante. Kennedy did totally asshole-ish things and ran a bunch of untruthful, negative ads, and Vigilante remained honest and friendly the whole time, and he STILL lost. I felt so bad for him, and Kennedy was/is a douche bag…they all are, really.
Oh, prior to that, we had our last Crossfire. We discussed the roles of political parties in today’s elections and society and whatnot. That was pretty fun. So, later, we had a Caucus meeting, but we were trying to cram all the work we were sposed to get done in the past two days into that one hour of work time that we were given tonight, LOL. It was hard, and I really kinda did nothing cuz it confused me, but the group is amazering and they got it done. And I took a lotta pics.
Steve Rawson from Oregon (AKA Nancy Pelosi, in our group, lol) was talking to someone, and I randomly took their pic, mid-convo, and he jokingly chased after me and then tackled me to the ground and tickled me! It was kinda weird, lol, but funny.
Kay, so after taking a bunch of pics of the group just for fun, we all were dismissed and are now chilling in the room. Tomorrow, we can sleep in an extra hour, so YAY. X] And we’re doing touring and shopping, so tomorrow should be pretty fun!

Title: Our Caucus is Now Officially The Big Dick Caucus
Entry: Hello readers!
I woke up from a fantastic dream this morning. I dreamt that I was leaning against the stairs in school, looking all depressed (and feeling depressed, lol), and the guy I have a crush on walked past me. He put his hand on mine in a comforting manner and asked if I was okay. I said no, I’m not okay, and he offered me a hug and soup. Reflecting on that, the soup thing is kinda weird, but oh well. I thanked him, but denied and said that I’d already had some soup earlier.
So, we skip ahead to me being at his house, and I open the door and go to his stove and there’s soup sitting on the stove-top. And there’s a bowl next to it and it was just for me, lol, so I dished up some soup (even though I kinda hate soup) and then my crush was right at the table behind me. And he was like, “You feelin better?” and I was like, “Yeah, thanks for the soup.” And then I woke up. I know. I’m weird.
So, anywho, we had a seminar with this religious campaign advisor lady, and it was okay, but I don’t like that she kinda blurred the line between the separation of church and state. But someone asked her about that and she wouldn’t admit it. That bugged me, too. And then we had a Caucus meeting and it was just random and fun; we pretty much just told people about ourselves. I told everyone that I had a tattoo and that my parents convinced me to get it and everyone was flippin out, so it was pretty funny and cooly, lol.
Then, we had another seminar with this BET campaign rep guy, I think his name was Jeff Johnson. He was AWESOME. He was a great speaker, really interesting, and hilarious, too, so it was a great seminar. Then we ate some lunch and then we presented our Caucus group projects, and they SUCKED NOODLES. Our resolution bill failed. Gah.
Next, we changed into casual clothes and headed out to the Air Force Memorial thingy. That was pretty cooly; the statues and marble walls were nice. And then we went to the Pentagon City Mall. THAT WAS GREAT! That place has FOUR levels! Sadly, we didn’t get to go to every store (in fact, we barely went to any stores) and we only had two hours.
I am not a dress girl, so I didn’t pack one for the dance tomorrow, but I re-thought that and decided to try to find a cheap dress in the mall that I could buy. Unfortunately for me, there’s no Wal*Mart there, lol, so everything I saw was, like, $200. RIDICULOUS. So, later, my friend Nora suggested I just find a nice shirt to wear with some black pants, which I already have, so I thought that was a great idea. I found a decent shirt on sale and that was that.
We left the mall and went to the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Korean War Memorial, and to just in front of the White House for a photo. That was cooly, but it was dark for most of those, so the pics we all took came out blurry and just not good. *tears*
Then we came back to watch a movie about the Arlington Cemetery (is that the proper title?), which was insanely depressing. Um, and then we went back to our rooms and chilled. I talked a lot with Adrian, who is bitchin, btw, about just totally random stuff for, like, two hours. So that was fun. And now everyone’s asleep, so I think I’ll join them.

Title: Chris Cobb is a Dirty, Dirty Whore
Entry: Hello readers!
So it goes that today, Friday, March 28th, 2008, is the last day of Presidential Classroom. Sadness beyond belief, really. I’m not crying, and I haven’t all day, but, surprisingly (to myself, anyway), I don’t wanna leave yet.
Real quick, this morning, after our seminar, we officially elected ourselves Caucus A, instead of Caucus 2. Caucus A is just less derogatory, LOL. And I nicknamed us the “Big Dick” Caucus cuz we always have the poster of the Big Dick himself, VP Cheney, in the back window of the bus, lol.
And, the title of this post is because of Chris Cobb, himself. Fellow PC-er, he’s a local celebrity among us and yesterday, Caucus A convinced him to say that was a dirty, dirty whore, lol. I just thought it was hilarious. X]
This morning was okay; we started with a Caucus meeting. We had to come up with Civic Action Plans (CAP) for our towns/cities that we live in. It was fun chatting with my group of friends and laughing with them, but MAKING the CAP was lame.
So, then we headed to a seminar by Marines; Sgt. Daniel Valenti (he was CUTE), Sgt. Keith Klein, and Sgt. Carlos Robayo. At least, I think that’s right. The Presidential Daily says there were four guys, but only three came, and I only know for sure Sgt. Robayo and Sgt. Valenti, so yeah. Anywho…
They were a LOT more entertaining than I thought they would be. I didn’t have much interest in the Marines, so I thought the seminar would suck, but Sgt. Valenti was freaking hilarious, and it was just a really fantastic seminar.
Sgt. Valenti looked and sounded a HELL of a LOT like Dean, from Supernatural. I mean, his facial expressions and his voice were just so much like Dean, I was blown away by it. I desperately wanted to ask him if he’s ever seen Supernatural, but he had to leave before I had a chance to, which made me sad. Oh, well.
Then we went to the Smithsonian. Can I get a *WHOOT WHOOT*?! Just kidding. Anywho, it was pretty cooly thur. We started in the Air and Space Museum, which was INSANELY lame. So, my friend Nora and I headed over to the Natural History Museum. That place was awesome. We saw the mammals exhibit and then we went to the gemstones exhibit and saw the Hope Diamond (which really isn’t as amazing as I thought it would be).
Then we had some lunch (super expensive, really not that good) and went to the Origins of Western Culture exhibit. That had a bunch of Egyptian stuff in it, which I *LOVE*, so that was pretty cooly. I got a good amount of pics, so yay!
We had to get back to the Air and Space Museum to catch the bus, so we headed back and that was that. We only had two hours at the Smithsonian and I really don’t think that was enough time. I didn’t get to see the dinosaurs exhibit which I *desperately* wanted to see, so that bummed me out.
At about 2:00 PM, we headed out to the Arlington National Cemetery and walked (UPHILL) to the JFK memorial and the eternal flame. It was pretty cooly, but you had to be absolutely silent whilst there, and the guard there yelled at us for whispering.
So, next we walked up to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. That was okay. We watched the Changing of the Guard ceremony twice (dull), and then the Army Wreath Laying thrice (the last one was the cooliest, cuz it was a wrath with a sash-type thing that said “Presidential Classroom” – yay us!). Then we left.
It was shockingly hot yesterday. Like, upper 60’s kinda hot. That may not sound too bad, but if you’re wearing a black suit with a black blazer that you HAVE to wear and you’re trudging through a cemetery UPHILL, it’s pretty fucking hot, lol. As most of you know, I don’t do any exercise, cuz I hate exercise, so walking through the cemetery was pretty difficult for me, lol. Plus, I was already pretty tired as it is.
Then we came back to the hotel and changed into clothes for the dance and banquet and we packed our stuff as much as we could. The banquet was okay. The food was kinda suckish, but the closing speeches by Chris Cobb (local celebrity among us and future President…and dirty, dirty whore) and Ian…something…(highly opinionated [in favor of the Democrats - WHOO!] and awesomely cooly) were really great.
Next, we had a closing Caucus meeting. Lola and Anthony (our instructors) were great. They made us laugh and gave us our certificates of graduation, along with CD’s of a pic slideshow made specially for us, PC-ers, a PC pin, and Lola’s card (so we could keep in touch with her). I will really miss them; they’re pure awesome.
Then we went to the dance. GAH! Twas so fun! I didn’t think it would be, but it really, REALLY was. We didn’t have any slow songs, every single one was a dance song. And the DJ played “Love Shack,” “Tonto! Jump On It,” and “Shout!” That stuffs made me happy. I love those songs (specially “Tonto! Jump On It!”). So, yay!
The night finished with our goodbyes and we hugged everyone we knew. That was kinda depressing. But it was fun seeing everyone one last time before going back to our rooms. I took a shower, then Erica took one, then Honduras girl.
And so ends the final day of Presidential Classroom. I loved it and am considering doing it again next year (they’re doing a special Inauguration version in January and we get to go to the actual inaugural ceremony, so, that’d be pretty cooly). I’ll be home tomorrow! WHOO!
